The Closing Ceremony of Career Fair 2025, organized by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU), University of Kelaniya, took place on the 12th of March 2025 at the K14 Hall of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya. The event was entirely coordinated by student clubs affiliated with the CGU, including Rotaract, LEO, LED, Gavel, and AIESEC. Held annually, the Career Fair serves as a vital platform for undergraduates to explore career opportunities and connect with potential employers in the corporate world.
Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Rolf Blaser, Managing Director and CEO of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd, delivered the keynote speech.
Career Fair 2025 featured a series of Open Days, workshops, and a main event spanning from January to March. Eight Open Days were hosted by leading companies, including MAS Holdings, Unilever, Abans PLC, Brandix, North Sails, A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd, Sunshine Holdings, and John Keells, offering invaluable career guidance to students. The main event, held on the 5th of March at the Faculty of Computing and Technology, saw participation from eleven renowned companies, including Orient Finance PLC, Acorn Ventures (Pvt.) Ltd, Gateway College, Sisili Projects Consortium (Pvt.) Ltd, WIA Systems LK, Ceylinco Life Insurance Ltd, CodeGen International (Pvt.) Ltd, Baker Tilly Edirisinghe & Co, B. R. De Silva & Co, Prime Lands (Pvt.) Ltd, and George Steuart Consumer (Pvt.) Ltd.
The event was also attended by Senior Professor Dilkushi Wettewe, Director of the Career Guidance Unit, along with Faculty Deans, academic staff, Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors, company representatives, and undergraduates.
As the curtains close on Career Fair 2025, the event stands as a remarkable milestone in the University of Kelaniya’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Through these initiatives, the University continues to empower undergraduates, equipping them with the confidence and expertise needed to step into the professional world.

The event aimed to create valuable opportunities for both graduates and undergraduates to help them take their first steps into the professional world. It served as a dynamic platform for students to engage with industry leaders, create valuable connections, and even secure job opportunities on the spot.
A total of eleven leading companies, including Orient Finance PLC, Acorn Ventures (Pvt) Ltd, Gateway College, Sisili Projects Consortium Pvt. Ltd, WIA Systems LK, Ceylinco Life Insurance Ltd, CodeGen International (Pvt) Ltd, Baker Tilly Edirisinghe & Co, B. R. De Silva & Co, Prime Lands (Pvt) Ltd, and George Steuart Consumer (Pvt) Ltd participated, bringing immense enthusiasm to the event.

Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors and members of the organizing committee of Career Fair 2025.
The eight open day hosted by Keells took place on 28th of February 2025 at the CGU Auditorium coinciding with Career Fair 2025. Interviews were conducted by experts from Keells. The open day's main aim was to provide internship opportunities at Keells for the students of the University of Kelaniya. Shortlisted students from the University of Kelaniya attended the event.
Career Fair 2025 UoK - 7th Open Day with Sunshine Holdings
Sunshine Holdings hosted 7th Open Day on 24th February 2025, as part of the Career Fair UOK 2025, offering interviews for undergraduates from the University of Kelaniya at the CGU Auditorium. The event also featured a Company Introductory session led by Ms. Diyani Fernando, Manager of Talent Acquisition and Mr. Zaheer Azger, Assistant Manager of Learning & Development at Sunshine Holdings.
The Open Day of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. took place on February 20th, 2025, as part of the Career Fair 2025 at the University of Kelaniya. The event included a workshop to introduce students to the company and its values. Mr. Rolf Blaser, the Managing Director and CEO, kicked off the session, sharing insights on the company’s operations. The second part of the workshop, titled "Personal Branding and Networking in the Digital Age," was led by Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, who is responsible for HR, Administration, Purchasing, and Sustainability at Baurs. The workshop aimed to aware students of the importance of building a personal brand and networking in the digital world. With over 90 students attending, the event also provided a platform for Baurs to offer internship opportunities to students from the University of Kelaniya. The event successfully enhanced student awareness while also creating pathways for professional growth.
North Sails hosted the 5th Open Day as part of Career Fair UoK 2025 on February 10, 2025, at the University of Kelaniya. The event featured interviews for undergraduates and a company introductory session led by Ms. Awanthi Gunathilaka, Executive - Talent Acquisition, and Ms. B.L.T.H. De Silva, Executive - HR, at North Sails Manufacturing.
Brandix Apparel Ltd conducted the 4th Open day with interviews for the undergraduates of the University of Kelaniya as part of Career Fair UOK 2025 on the 5th February 2025 along with a workshop on "Corporate Etiquette" by Ms.Nadeesha Deheragoda - the General Manager - Human Resources.

The event, held in collaboration with Abans PLC, provided students with valuable career insights and internship opportunities.

The workshop held at the G3 Hall of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, attracted over 100 students keen on improving their interview skills and job readiness.

Career Fair 2025 UoK - 2nd Open Day with Unilever
The second Open Day of the Career Fair 2025, organized by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU), University of Kelaniya, took place on the 27th of January 2025 from 8:30 a.m. onwards at the University premises.
The Unilever Open Day included a workshop on " LinkedIn " conducted by Ms. Yuvini Balasooriya, the Executive Employer Branding Projects, HR Strategy and HR Business Partnering for Corporate Functions at Unilever. The workshop, held at the G3 Hall of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, attracted over 150 students eager to enhance their professional profiles and networking skills.

Career Fair UoK 2025 begins - 1st Open day by MAS Holdings
The Career Fair UoK 2025 began with MAS Holdings conducting the 1st Open Day on the 22nd of January 2025 from 8.30a.m. onwards.
The Open Day aimed to provide students with internship opportunities at MAS Holdings.
The Open Day featured a workshop titled "CV Brilliance and Interview Mastery" conducted by Ms. Sandamali Ranasinghe, Deputy General Manager of Talent Attraction and Acquisition from MAS Holdings Group. It was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies. More than 500 students registered for the 1st Open Day.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Senior Professor Dilkushi Wettewe, Director of the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya; Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors; and members of the organizing committee of CF 2025. The workshop was followed by interviews conducted by industry experts from MAS Holdings.
Career Fair 2025 - First Meeting
The Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya conducted the first Meeting for the Career Fair 2025 on December 12, 2024. Held virtually from 10:00 to 10:30 am, the meeting marked the first step in organizing the much-anticipated career fair. It provided participating companies with detailed insights into the event’s objectives, procedures, and structure.The session was hosted by Rtr. Vihanga Divyanjana, the President of the Rotaract Club of the University of Kelaniya and project Chair of the Career Fair.
Sixteen leading companies participated at the meeting, representing industries. Among the notable attendees were A. Baur & Co (Pvt.) Ltd, represented by Pujitha Senarathna, and Ceylon Cold Stores, represented by Isuru Perera. NTB Bank’s Medhavi Samarakoon, Insighture’s Avisha Perera and Menaka, MAS Holdings’ Eranga Bowatte, and Mark from Brandix were also present. Other participants included Hemas Holdings, Abans, Z Messenger, Sunshine, Cargills, CodeGen, AIA, EY, and Jaykay Marketing Services (John Keells).
The meeting was organized by a dedicated team led by Rtr. Vihanga Divyanjana. Rtr. Shahmi Rizwan, Rtr. Safaa Amir, and Rtr. Kusal Jayasooriya served as Project Coordinators. Supporting them were the Industry Coordinators: Rtr. Nipuni Perera, Rtr. Mohammed Faham, Rtr. Nuvindya Senanayaka, Rtr. Afrah Ihthisham, and Rtr. M. R. Zaiena. During the meeting, Mr. Viraj Abhayasinghe (Career Counsellor) from the Career Guidance Unit also expressed gratitude to the companies for their enthusiasm and collaboration. He highlighted the importance of such industry partnerships in supporting students’ career development and creating valuable opportunities for professional growth.The Launch Meeting provided an essential platform to outline the Career Fair 2025’s structure and engagement opportunities.
The Career Fair 2025 team officially received their letters of appointment from the Director of the Career Guidance Unit (CGU), Senior Professor Dikushi Wettewe at the CGU auditorium on November 18, 2024. The committee, composed of student leaders from clubs affiliated with the CGU, aims to foster leadership skills among undergraduates and encourage active participation in university events.
The President of the Rotaract Club, Vihanga Divyanjana, Chair of Career Fair UoK 2025 and Co-Chair of Industry Coordination.Yasas Mallawarachchi, President of AIESEC, will serve as theCo-Chair, Public Relations. Nadil Gunaratne, President of the Gavel Club, was named Co-Chair of the editorial. Kisal Gimhan,President of the Leo Club, will act as Co-Chair of Logistics. Lastly, Waruni L. Wedagamage,President of the LED Club, was appointed as Co-Chair, External Coordination.
