LED KLN successfully conducted LED Ascendio 2026, the official orientation programme for the club's newest members, on May 26th, 2026, via Zoom. The virtual event marked the beginning of an exciting new journey of leadership, growth, and endless possibilities, successfully paving the way for lasting connections, shared experiences, and collaborative adventures among the incoming team.

LED KLN successfully hosted FiestaVerse 2026 on June 14th, 2026, at the A7 Ground Floor, providing undergraduates with a vibrant day of fun, laughter, and community connection. The event served as a perfect break from academic routines, bringing students together to strengthen peer bonds and create unforgettable memories.
SPEAK UP 2026
LED KLN, in collaboration with ELCT, successfully hosted SPEAK UP 2026 on July 13th, 2026, at the Social Sciences Auditorium. This impactful skill development program provided undergraduates with a vital platform to elevate their English communication, build professional confidence, and unlock their full potential.

EXCELLORA
The University of Kelaniya officially launched the USBus – Mobile American Space, an exciting collaboration between the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka, Sarvodaya Fusion, the Career Guidance Unit, and LED KLN. This mobile learning platform delivers high-quality workshops, mentorship, and 21st-century skill training to youth across the island.
The launch was graced by U.S. Ambassador H.E. Julie J. Chung, Vice Chancellor Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, and UGC Chairman Senior Prof. Kapila Seneviratne.
Day 1 (Youth Leadership): An interactive session led by Mr. Steven Walter from the U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section.
Day 2 (English Language Skills): Workshops focused on communication, critical thinking, and confidence-building led by American resource persons.
Day 3 (Global Trends): Sessions covering AI, STEM education, and U.S. higher education opportunities.
On July 5th, 2025, the Polwatte grounds at the University of Kelaniya transformed into a vibrant field of energy for MINIONIX Fun Day. Serving as the inaugural event for the LED KLN 2025/26 term, this Minions-themed day stripped away traditional student hierarchies, allowing the Executive Committee and new recruits to connect as peers and teammates.
The Branding & Marketing Avenue of LED KLN successfully hosted the Creative Corner Series (CCS) 2025, a three-day virtual workshop series via Zoom that brought together roughly 100 students per session to master essential digital skills.
Session 1: Mr. Changa Sarith Gonsal Korala shared essential strategies for building a unique brand identity and standing out in competitive markets.
Session 2: Dr. Ravi Dissanayake covered digital marketing, content creation, and effective ways to communicate product value to audiences.
Session 3: Mr. Dilan Perera introduced innovative AI tools to boost creativity, design efficiency, and modern problem-solving.
The STEP Series 2025 is an annual professional development initiative designed to guide university students into the competitive job market. Organized in collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya and CIPM Sri Lanka, this year’s program successfully equipped students with the critical tools needed for corporate success.
A Journey in Three Acts
Session 1 (August 21, 2025): Mr. Mahasen Wijerathne taught students how to master interviews by leveraging personal branding and strategic self-presentation.
Session 2 (October 15, 2025): Dr. G.H.B.A. De Silva provided hands-on strategies for transforming LinkedIn profiles into opportunity-attracting professional portfolios.
Session 3: Ms. Thilini Vimukthika Kelaniyage delivered practical tools and actionable templates for crafting compelling CVs and mastering interview techniques.
LED KLN successfully launched the INCITE Session Series 2025, a premier four-week initiative designed to equip University of Kelaniya undergraduates with critical industry exposure and the essential psychological tools required for career excellence.
A Four-Week Professional Journey
Session 1 (October 7, 2025): Mr. Chathura Liyanage led "Investment for Students," teaching participants vital financial literacy and planning skills to help them start investing in their future today.
Session 2 (October 14, 2025): Dr. K.R.N. Harshani facilitated "Academic Stress Balance," providing students with crucial resilience and coping strategies to protect their well-being under heavy academic workloads.
Session 3 (October 21, 2025): Ms. Madhavi Gunasekara explored "Professional Qualifications," illustrating how strategic professional credentials can transform a standard student profile into a competitive corporate edge.
Session 4 (October 28, 2025): Dr. D.M.N.S.W. Dissanayake conducted "Entrepreneurial Mindset," inspiring a new generation of self-driven leaders to foster innovation and confidently seek out new opportunities.
On November 5, 2025, the Cyber Ground at the University of Kelaniya buzzed with energy as the Organizational Development Avenue of LED KLN hosted LEDVENTURE. Guided by Mr. Sameera Wijayagunaratne, Instructor in Physical Education, this unique initiative blended leadership lessons, mind-relaxation, and interactive team-building activities to foster collaboration.
On October 8th, 2025, the Organizational Development (OD) Avenue of LED KLN hosted a highly successful screening of the movie "Dragon" at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Science. Strategically designed as a recreational break during a demanding academic semester, the event offered students a much-needed escape to alleviate exam-related stress and prioritize their well-being.
On February 13th, 2026, the Business Development Avenue of LED KLN organized a highly successful industrial visit to Ansell Textiles Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Seeduwa. This premier initiative allowed a cohort of 30 undergraduates to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial application.
Career Fair 2026
The Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya successfully hosted Career Fair 2026, a large-scale initiative organized in collaboration with five major university clubs to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
The initiative featured four open days starting in February 2026, hosting companies for interview and guidance sessions, followed by the Main Event on March 11, 2026, which brought together 14 leading companies for a consolidated recruitment drive.
Serving as a Co-Chairing body, LED KLN led External Relations, candidate coordination, and on-ground logistics. The team extends its sincere gratitude to Prof. Dilkushi Senaratne and career counselors Viraj Abeysinghe and Minoon Perera for their invaluable guidance in making this landmark event a resounding success.
Leadership Conference
On February 28th, 2026, LED KLN hosted Leadership Conference 2025 at the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, bridging the gap between student potential and corporate success.
Key Highlights
Keynote Speech: Mr. Dhanika Perera (CEO of Bhasha Lanka) shared strategies on unlocking entrepreneurial potential and building resilience.
Panel Discussion: Industry experts discussed "From Campus to Corporate," sharing valuable advice on career growth and workplace expectations.
Practical Workshop: Ms. Stephanie Todd (HR Specialist, Ansell Textiles) conducted an interactive session on mastering emotional intelligence.
